Disable Vista User Account Control (UAC)

Windows User Account Control was introduced to help prevent rouge programs from doing harm to the computer. The way that this works is by running a program as a regular user and if the program needs to have administrator privileges the user will be presented with an option to allow or to deny the request.

Well asking a user if they want to allow or to deny a request might be a great way for things to work in a perfect world but in that perfect world there will also be the issue of not needing that feature because it is again “A PERFECT WORLD”. We do not live in a perfect society that does not want to do us any harm, in fact there are rogue programmers out there that are looking to do data mining to find out information about you, even popular websites do this with the use of cookies to target adds to you better.

ATI 7.10 Drivers Released

ATI released the anticipated drivers for their radeon family lineup of graphic cards today.

I went ahead and downloaded the new drivers in an attempt to restore working order to my X1300 Pro card.

This card is an AGP that will hold me over till I do a full upgrade on my system once the Phenoms are released by AMD in the next few months.

So I download and install the new 7.10 drivers supplied by the manufacturer of my card (happens to be an “ATI Genuine” card).

Do the reboot thing…. and VIOLA I get a Windows Experience Index of 1.0!!!
