Fedora 10 Live USB Working Persistent Overlay

Fedora Live USB

Fedora Live USB

So it appears that there is NOT a way to get the persistent overlay to work properly on Fedora 10 Live USB using the Windows Live USB creator, but there is a workaround that might will do the trick instead of the actual Windows creator.

Things you will need to get the persistent overlay working.

  • Fedora 10 live ISO image
  • Blank CD to write that image to
  • Free space on your flash drive to create the live USB
  • A working internet connection
  • Ability to run a few commands from the shell

Once you have burned the Live ISO image to the CD you will need to reboot your computer and let the live image start up rather than your Windows environment. To do this you may need to log into the bios and set your CD as the first boot device or sometimes F8 or F12 will bring up your hardware boot manager.

This means anything on your desktop or in your pictures, music, documents, or any other location in your home directory.
