New York State of the State Address

I am a New Yorker by birth, not by choice, born April 1982 at NYU Hospital. Since my birth I have lived in this state for my ENTIRE life, again not by choice, and it has been getting worse here for years. Let me further explain myself here.

In 1984 my family moved to the Broome county area where I spent most of my life, went to school, attended church, visited the parks, and met the people. I also learned about racism, where I learned how people slip through the cracks, where I learned that New York is only the Metropolitan area surrounding New York City and only in Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, or Albany counties.

In relation to education I always wondered how the classes in NYC could be so big and with all the funding that is thrown at them how their test scores could be so low. When I was growing up I was in a very small school that only had 2 kindergarten teachers and I was apparently the very first left-handed student they had as proof to their not being a single left handed pair of scissors in the entire district. Somehow I turned out marginally able to write a blog and function even with the lack of funding that was diverted to the more urban areas.
