Well I was having some minor issues with Windows Vista remembering the mapped network drive password that I had set since the machine that I am trying to connect to is now a Windows Server 2003 R2 machine that is set up to do all my seeding and file sharing within the household. I know I know, some of you might be thinking that I am selling out on the Linux stuff, well you are all partially right. My server upgrade did not go as well as I would have liked it to have and since I still have a Windows Server 2003 R2 key that is valid I decided that it might be nice to get things working via that route, well I will say that as far as simple file sharing and torrent seeding is concerned it was a much easier way to go although I still miss my SSH sessions.

Well I can’t really complain too much since I have some really excellent prices on hosting but the problem starts to be that every time that I try to access my own site that it takes forever to connect and to get information to display on my page.
I have tried to optimize the PHP to speed things up I have also optimized the CSS to make it load a little faster but it doesn’t seem to have worked for the most part. I have also installed a plugin the caches the pages that are loaded with wordpress and holds onto them for 12 hours before they get deleted and that didn’t even seem to work very well.
I think that paying for hosting really isn’t a good idea when you are on a shared server. It seems like the host that I have which is DreamHost can and will oversell the capabilities of the server and the connection and before you know it the machine is overloaded and even simple mysql queries take forever to complete.
I have hosted my own server for a long time and found that even with very limited upload speed I was able to get a better functioning site than something that I am paying for along with domain registration. While the site that I had hosted before was a dyndns account it worked flawless for what I had to do with a small site with less than 20 members.
I guess what I am getting to is that this site is unbearably slow and I don’t know how anyone could pay for hosting and get this poor of service.
