So WordPress 2.7 codenamed “Coltrane” is released today, I have done the liberty of downloading and installing this wonderful content management system and am already quite impressed with the administration changes that where done from 2.6.5 to 2.7. The entire interface seems to have change slightly but has made it even easier for me to locate things and navigate around. I am at the moment just taking it for a test drive and am completely happy with the changes that are made. So I guess there is nothing more to say than WordPress 2.7 is the way to go if you want to get your blog on.
I have found that so far all the plugins work properly and K2 themes still work as they should. I still wish another K2 update would roll out but that is another story all together.
Overall I think that the new 2.7 release is a very polished and professional peice of software. I thank the entire WordPress team for making this version a reality and look forward to what is next from them.
Take a look at the interface

What you will notice first about the interface is that instead of the overhead bar now everything is aligned to the right side. Using the side to hold all your navigation makes great use of dropdown menus that will allow you to quickly navigate from page to page and all about your WordPress administration panel.

Matt from WordPress.org writes:
The first thing you’ll notice about 2.7 is its new interface. From the top down, we’ve listened to your feedback and thought deeply about the design and the result is a WordPress that’s just plain faster. Nearly every task you do on your blog will take fewer clicks and be faster in 2.7 than it did in a previous version.
So as you can see that much work has gone into polishing up WordPress 2.7, so go on, don’t be a hater and give it a spin!
