Through the course of time I have come to the conclusion that I like to get all my information online and in text format. I am not a huge fan of actually talking to people because once it is gone there is no way to re-listen to whatever it is that someone said, this can cause issues in life that can’t be avoided.
The problem with that is when there are many different places that you must go to check all your digital communications. Right as of now I have 5 email addresses for variousĀ reasons, 2 myspace pages, 3 AIM accounts, 1 YIM account, this blog, accounts at random bulletin boards and other sites. I have made everything that I do as stream lined as possible where every email account will feed into a main one that is a collector for all sorts of rubbish but I go through painstaking removal of things and enhancements to the spam filter. AIM is easy 1 account for my computer, 1 account for my phone, and one account for when I need to send myself things between computers such as web address URL’s. All of these things above are begginer stuff that anyone could set up, where I really have the problem is when I get a PM from someone on a message board and I have to log into the message board to get my message, not that it usually would be a problem but then it brings me to another point of remembering the user name and the password.
User names and passwords can generally be gotten directly from the login screen of a website, when you have 5 email addresses this poses a problem that can’t always be fixed with ease. Some of the questions you will be faced with are, which email did I use to set up this account, what was my security question answer, and my favorite one ever being “is the site actually going to send the password reset message this time, and if it does is the link they provide actually going to work this time?”
I suppose that what this all boils down to is that when you are dealing with people that have your email address that insist that it’s easier to use a website PM to get in touch with you rather than an actual email. Sometimes I don’t log into boards for months and months at a time and may actually never even get the message at all. So for all those people out there that you know, do them the favor and actually take the time and send an email, you might even get a reply faster that way.
